Effectiveness of Automatic EOG Regression
نویسنده
چکیده
In this paper, a method of automatically reducing EOG artifacts in an EEG recording is evaluated in a BCI context. The methods were incorporated into a system for classifying 4 types of imagined movement and the performance of the system was used for comparison. It is shown that the EOG regression method can be used in combination with frequency filtering and does improve the performance of the classifier. It is also shown that it is beneficial to recalculate the noise/signal mixing matrix for each trial.

Eog and Ecg Minimization Based on Regression Analysis
A method based on regression analysis is presented that can be used for automatic minimization of EOG and ECG artifacts in the sleep EEG. INTRODUCTION It is known that the non-cortical activity gives a contribution to the EEG recordings. Electrooculogram (EOG), the electrocardiagram (ECG) and muscle activity (EMG) are the most important non-cortical sources. For sleep analysis it is important t...
متن کاملComputerized processing of EEG-EOG-EMG artifacts for multi-centric studies in EEG oscillations and event-related potentials.
The aim of this study is to present a package including standard software for the electroencephalographic (EEG), electro-oculographic (EOG) and electromyographic (EMG) preliminary data analysis, which may be suitable to standardize the results of many EEG research centers studies (i.e. multi-centric studies) especially focused on event-related potentials. In particular, our software package inc...
متن کاملAutomatic Processing of EEG-EOG-EMG Artifacts in Sleep Stage Classification
In this paper, we present a series of algorithms for dealing with artifacts in electroencephalograms (EEG), electrooculograms (EOG) and electromyograms (EMG). The aim is to apply artifact correction whenever possible in order to lose a minimum of data, and to identify the remaining artifacts so as not take them into account during the sleep stage classification. Nine procedures were implemented...
متن کاملA comparative study of automatic techniques for ocular artifact reduction in spontaneous EEG signals based on clinical target variables: A simulation case
Eye movement artifacts represent a critical issue for quantitative electroencephalography (EEG) analysis and a number of mathematical approaches have been proposed to reduce their contribution in EEG recordings. The aim of this paper was to objectively and quantitatively evaluate the performance of ocular filtering methods with respect to spectral target variables widely used in clinical and fu...
متن کاملAn EOG-Based Automatic Sleep Scoring System and Its Related Application in Sleep Environmental Control
Human beings spend approximately one third of their lives sleeping. Conventionally, to evaluate a subjects sleep quality, all-night polysomnogram (PSG) readings are taken and scored by a well-trained expert. Unlike a bulky PSG or EEG recorder on the head, the development of an electrooculogram (EOG)-based automatic sleep-staging system will enable physiological computing systems (PhyCS) to prog...
